Averroes describes a chain: ignorance causes fear, fear causes hate, hate causes violence. In mathematics, “A causes B causes C causes D” is exactly function composition — the output of one function is poured into the next.
Each link is a saturating response — a little input does little, but past a threshold it turns sharply and then maxes out, the way fear and hatred actually behave. Drag the coupling strengths and the level of ignorance and watch the cascade.
The real equation is the chain rule
Ask how much violence changes when ignorance changes. That is a derivative, and the calculus chain rule turns it into a product of every link's strength:
Because it is a product, if any single link goes to zero the whole thing collapses — no matter how hot the other links run. Knock out the first link, ignorance → fear, which is what education does, and the chain breaks at the root.
